i highly recommend this game to anyone who is a fan of the series. it has a great story and the farming is very engrossing i spent an entire 24 hour period without sleep just so that i could unlock the super crops. well i investigated this game a lot before buying it and all the reviews had something negative to say about it. but it is a really good game, the controls are something you have to get used to but once you do you hardly notice any problems.
(Hope the sequal's game play isnt touch screen like this one. (XD woot woot smexy cowboy). SO just for anyone who is cerious to buy this game.Get ready for a arm numb killer.becus there isnt pleasure in it. I'm so sorry.I HATE to wright somthing bad about Harvest Moon but.I do NOT, NOT, NOT. O.O) The graphics are great I loved them.Happy to see its improving.^^ Love the art as well its very nice. Like the game play at ALL on this.Due to it being on a touch screen ONLY it takes away the fun.My arm is hurting after awhile.and its so darn slow and hard to get things done to keep the game rolling. You dont have a lot of stamina, and then there is truble of eating.Honestly I have never gorged so much on weeds in a game like this befor. Hehe sadly the only thing (and thank God for it) that has kept me interested was a feller in the game named Vaughn.
Time is one of the downsides for me.Upgrades:For those experienced HM players there are no sprites you rely on wonderful stones wich are exteremly rare. don't think you now it all about harvest moon intil you see this game. crops early in the game raise only small income because of stamina conserns. there are 8 roadand 3 bridges that can be Upgraded/bilt. Thid game is exteremly hard.
Fun: On the good side it is fun and adictive but not as easy as even a experienced HM player would think. The secend bridge unlocks it but cost a ton of money. I am a expert at HM for DS original.I still wasn't expecting it to be this hard. I, even with all the downslides would by the game No blcksmith will just improve it like in the other HM games.Building:The upside is that that it only takes him 1 day to build what you want the carpenter to do. Bridges are extremely importent because they aloow you to visit new places.
It takes forever to get enough money for anything. The only thing you can do in the begening is forage and plant for money. Every bridge or road built increases 3% to the development percentage. MONEY:Money takes a while to get I am in fall of my 1st year and havv only bought a animal shed and a bridge to the medow, were the contest are. It takes a ton of money though like the bridgeI am saving up for cost 20,000 for labor and I need 500 lumber wich sells at the carpenters for 50g each. Time goes by faster than the original hm game.
For peaople who think you can earn money byt minning in the begenning of the game, you cant. You cant realy having a big harvest I only have 3,3 by 3's and afer a watering that you are almost out of stamina.TIME:Time goes by extremly fast after watering for me its late in the day.
It can sometimes feel like *all* you're doing is chores, but they all lead to greater goals in the game (e.g. This game is addicting but the controls are bad. Overall a cute, fun, addicting game that you can lose track of time playing. money, marriage, children, etc). As other reviews have said, the use of the d-pad would be a nice thing to have back.or at least have as an option; with this game, however, movement is stylus only. All that aside, I really do enjoy the game.
Now both daugther and husband have their own game saves and they often compare how many animals and buildings and what not they have. Our daughter got a DS for Christmas last year and this was one of the games she got. It's easy enough that she can follow along without getting frustrated, but it's fun for adults as well.Harvest Moon is another DS hit in our house. I've overheard conversations about new chickens and calves, new buildings being built, various festivals where they can win prizes, and different upgrades to their houses.Even though she still needs help with some of the text and conversations, it's a big hit with the 6-year-old. The first time she played it, my husband helped her with the reading and getting things all set up.and managed to get himself hooked on it. He said it's the closest modern thing to his old favorite game, SimFarm, that he's come across.
